Max Hewitt kicked off his 2025 GT America Powered by AWS season with a statement win at Sonoma Raceway on March 30, 2025, delivering his first career professional victory in sports car racing behind the wheel of the #17 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 Evo.

Making his debut with Van Der Steur Racing in partnership with MPH Racing, Hewitt entered the weekend with momentum from a strong winter campaign in Europe and a renewed focus as an official Aston Martin Racing Academy driver. Starting third in the GT4 field, he launched into action the moment the green flag dropped — executing a flawless first lap in wet, low-visibility conditions to take the class lead and move up to fourth overall.

Just laps later, the race was neutralized under full-course yellow as the rain intensified, limiting visibility and reducing grip across the circuit. Race control ultimately brought the event to a close under caution, locking in Hewitt’s position at the front of the GT4 field and officially awarding him the win.

“To come out of the gate like this — with a win in my first GT America race and first outing with VDSR — is a massive moment for everyone involved,” Hewitt said. “It was all about making the right moves early and trusting the car, the team, and the conditions. I’m incredibly proud to share this result with the whole crew and with Aston Martin.”

The victory marks a new chapter in Hewitt’s professional career as he transitions from the highly competitive Toyota GR Cup series and European GT racing into the high-profile American sports car scene. It also signals early promise in the newly formed partnership between VDSR, MPH Racing, and Aston Martin.

While budget constraints will sideline Hewitt from the upcoming Long Beach Grand Prix, the focus now shifts to the next round at Circuit of The Americas — a home race for the Houston native driver — where he’ll aim to carry this momentum into a championship push.
